37-year-old female golf sensation Annika Sorenstam plans to retire after the end of this season according to the Associated Press (see video below). Here are a few of her numerous accomplishments:
She has won a total of 72 tournaments.
She is the only woman to shoot a 59.
She was named player-of-the-year eight times.
She completed a grand slam.
She also competed on the PGA Tour against men in 2003 - the first woman to do so in over fifty years. Sorenstam wants to focus on starting a family and on her business once she retires from golf. When asked how she wants to be remembered Sorenstam said: "As somebody that enjoyed the competition and the challenge. I wasn't afraid to push myself. That, is important to me."
